Referencing Files from AMP - Maya 2015

Maya with AMP (Maya 2015 or Below)

To properly reference a file into your shot using AMP in Maya, follow the steps below:

  • Open your work file by right-clicking on it in AMP and choose “check out" then “open into maya” .
  • With your work file open go back into AMP, find the file you wish to use from the AMP Assets, get the latest shot ready file, then right-click on the file and choose “reference in Maya”.

Standalone AMP Content Navigator

To properly reference a file into your shot using the Standalone AMP Content Navigator, follow the steps below:

  • Open your work file by right-clicking on it in AMP and choose “check out" then “open into maya” .
  • With your work file open go back into AMP, find the file you wish to use from the AMP Assets, get the latest shot ready file, then right-click on an empty space in the Asset folder and hit "Explore here"
  • This will open a window to the location of the file on your system. Memorize or copy the path to the file then go to Maya, hit "File - Create Reference", and browse to the location of the file on your system.
  • Once you have found the file, select it and hit "Reference"

Important: The "Reference in Maya" option is not available in the Standalone AMP Content Navigator.
