My Renders are Coming up Black

If your renders for your assignment are appearing black, make sure you are using the Maya Software or Maya Hardware renderer. To do this:

• Go to Windows - Rendering Editors - Render View (or open the Render View from the menu bar icon)
  
  
• In the Render View, go to Options - Render Using, and select either Maya Software or Maya Hardware

If you would like to use the Mental Ray (Maya 2016 or below), or the Arnold renderer (Maya 2017 and above), AM has a collection of rendering tutorials which can be found on the AM Campus under Resources - Demos & Tips, in the Maya: Lighting & Rendering section.
